All You Need to Know

Recommendations

  • Politely ask teachers at the beginning of the school year

  • Must give teachers a copy of your academic resume

  • If teachers must mail their recommendations you must provide an envelope already addressed to the college or scholarship, with a postage stamp on it.

  • Must give teachers one month (30 days) to write your recommendation

  • Teachers/counselors are NOT required to write recommendation letters, if you cannot write a recommendation for you, choose another teacher

  • REQUEST A RECOMMENDATION FROM YOUR COUNSELOR HERE

Transcripts 

Essays & Personal Statement

  • Should be typed, size 12 font, Arial or Times New Roman

  • Student's name and high school name should be in the upper right corner of every page

  • An adult should proofread 

  • Essay should answer the prompt given by the college or scholarship

SAT/ACT Scores for Colleges

  • Official test scores must be sent directly from College Board or the ACT website

    • When registering for the SAT/ACT you can list 4 colleges to receive your test scores for FREE.​

    • Any request after the first four will be charged an additional fee.

SAT/ACT Scores for Scholarships

Scholarships are a lot less formal than colleges. 

  • It is acceptable to print your score report from the College Board and ACT website and add the report to your application packet. It will still be considered official.

  • You can also print the score report and give it to the registrar to include with your transcript.

  • Scholarships may also accept emailed transcript as official if it comes from Miss Kristy.
