Scholarship Applications

Scholarship organizations typically post their applications on their websites or notify the Lahainaluna High School College and Career Center.

The LHS Scholarship bulletin is posted in Ms. Ginny's Post-High School Google Classroom for seniors. If a scholarship is available to all grade levels, an email will be sent to students with the details.

What will I need to apply?

Transcripts

  • Current Lahainaluna High School Students may pick up transcript request forms in the Early College classroom from Miss Kristy or from the College and Career Center.

  • Be sure to submit your completed form to Miss Kristy at least two weeks before your college or scholarship application deadline.

  • Before you request your transcript, please check your applications carefully. Some colleges and universities or scholarship organizations will require an official transcript with a signature, while others accept an unofficial transcript. They may also have different delivery methods, such as email, an online upload, or mail. Make sure you know what type of transcript and what method of delivery you need.

  • If you are applying to a college or university that asks you to self-report your coursework, you may find it helpful to request an unofficial transcript or a credit report for your personal use. This will allow you to accurately complete your application.

  • Lahainaluna Alumni may request transcripts through the Hawai'i Department of Education Records Request page here.

Personal Statement or college/scholarship essay

  • Some Colleges and Universities or scholarship organizations will require essays.

  • Please make sure to answer the prompt questions

  • Be Authentic and use your own voice

  • Seniors and Juniors, please check Ms. Ginny's Post-High School google classrooms for more information on how to get started.

Letters of Recommendation

  • Give your teachers, counselors, or community members plenty of time to write your letter of recommendation. A month's notice is recommended to allow them to write a thoughtful and thorough letter.

  • Provide your recommender with an academic resume or a brag sheet and personal statement. This will give them the information they need to write a strong letter of recommendation for you.

  • If the recommendations need to be mailed, provide your recommender with a stamped and addressed envelope.

  • Show your gratitude! Don't forget to thank your recommenders! Writing a thank you note or card is a great way to show your appreciation for the time and effort they put into helping you.

SAT, ACT, or AP Scores

  • Some colleges or scholarship organizations require test scores.

  • Students may request SAT or AP scores to be sent from CollegeBoard to colleges and universities.

  • Junior Year ACT scores may be included on your transcript or a document may be requested from Lahainaluna High School.
